R & Company is pleased to announce its participation in the 2016 edition of Design Miami/. As one of the fair’s founding galleries, R & Company has been participating in Design Miami/ since its inception in 2005. This year the gallery presents a group exhibition that displays a selection of iconic historical works alongside new and innovative contemporary designs.

A large focus of the booth this year is showcasing important historical works from a range of notable designers. Highlights on view include a set of Joaquim Tenreiro twin beds, displayed with original bedspreads designed by Greg Chait of the fashion label Elder Statesman. Also on view is a rare, solid wood coffee table designed by Jose Zanine in Brazil circa 1960, an elegant wooden chest of drawers by iconic American designer Wendell Castle, and a selection of rare lighting by Italian Radical designer Lapo Binazzi.

Alongside these historical pieces is a collection of visionary work by contemporary designers. Jeff Zimmerman premiers a stunning hand-blown glass illuminated sculpture as well as never-before-seen tabletop objects. The Haas Brothers unveil a line of stainless steel flatware, made up of six-piece place settings, each containing unique animal characteristics.

Also on view are two contemporary designers recently added to the gallery’s roster: emerging designer Katie Stout and American furniture designer Johnny Swing. Stout premiers her Stout premiers her newest series of Girl LampGirl Stool, and Girl Mirror and Johnny Swing presents one of his most iconic coin works, Murmuration, created with his unique technique of welding nickels and stainless steel.
Together, the works at Design Miami/ this year demonstrate R & Company’s mission of revealing and promoting rare historical and innovative contemporary design.
