R & Company announces the 2015 installment of their annual guest curator exhibition: Difficult, curated by Jim Walrod. The exhibition is the first to explore some of the less-than-laudatory initial responses -- ranging from bemusement to confusion to mockery to outright scandal and disgust -- to works that have since become icons of 20th century design. The exhibition opens on September 8th from 6-8 pm. Mr. Walrod will be present for the opening.

R 20th Century announces 10 Years in Tribeca, an exhibition celebrating the gallery's decade anniversary in our Franklin Street location, 16 March - 4 June 2011. A full color catalogue surveying the gallery's history, designed by longtime collaborator Lisa Steinmeyer, will accompany the exhibition.

R 20th Century's Fall 2003 exhibition, "Hung: A Century of Coat Racks," is the first American survey to trace the history of one of the great unsung workhorses of modern domestic design. The show is comprised of more than two-dozen vintage coat racks, from the stately to the avant-garde, conceived by both legendary designers and lesser-known talents during the 20th century.

Over the course of his career Verner Panton introduced a series of modern chairs, environments and lighting with personalities unlike those of any of his Scandinavian contemporaries. In this exhibition, Panton's furniture is showcased in elaborate, colorful, psychedelic environments that emulate some of his original showroom and exhibition designs.
