Design Miami/ Basel

13-18 June 2017

R & Company is thrilled to announce its participation in Design Miami/ Basel 2017. The booth presents a formal overview of significant historical and contemporary designs alongside a selection of limited edition carpets from the sought after Woven Forms series that recently launched this May in Venice.

Highlights on view include an elegant masterwork dining table paired with a set of twelve curved jacaranda dining chairs made by Brazilian modern designer Joaquim Tenreiro. Also on display is a striking illuminated Snow Crystal sculpture designedby glass master Jeff Zimmerman and a painterly carpet titled Rain Bird designed by Wendell Castle for Woven Forms.

On view for the first time ever in Basel are the The Haas Brothers Afreaks series, a collection of fantastic beaded works made in South Africa. This playful collection of anthropomorphic objects are shown alongside Hun-Chung Lee’s Mandala, a carpet the designer created based off the image of a Mandala painting and pop imagery.

The booth also showcases classic works by the Swedish American mid-century modern designer Greta Magnusson Grossman including an extremely rare bookshelf produced by Glenn of California, and the iconic Grasshopper floor lamp. Both works are shown alongside Renate Müller’s colorful Universe carpet, a work the designer created for children and uses playful imagery and bold colors. Together the works on view at Design Miami / Basel showcase the gallery’s mission of preserving important historical pieces, while offering innovative contemporary design.
